Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

If you're looking to move to Amarillo, let Affordable Super Storage be your solution for extra space!

Amarillo, just like everything else in the Texas Panhandle, has strong wind gusts that push dust into and onto everything. To prevent this, when looking for storage bins or covers, we suggest latching plastic bins, mattress/furniture bags, and taping box seams instead of folding them over. For keeping your valuables clean, we suggest a climate-controlled storage unit to keep dust off electronics, photos, and important documents.

Honestly, it depends on your needs. With Amarillo’s hot summers, chilly winters, and wild temperature swings, we typically suggest climate-controlled for anything you’d keep inside your home. Like mattresses, wood furniture, instruments, electronics, photos, vinyl records, and important documents. For lawn gear or tools, a standard drive-up unit works great, too.

For a typical 1-2 bedroom apartment, we suggest a 10×10 climate-controlled storage unit. Like we explained earlier, anything you’d keep inside your home, we’d suggest a climate-controlled unit. This is to eliminate dust and other weather hazards from ruining your items.

For a fuller 2-3 bedroom home, or if you have lots of appliances, consider a larger 10×20 unit. You definitely want to make sure you have enough space for your current belongings as well as any future items you plan (or don’t plan) on leaving inside. A 10×20 is perfect for this, as it gives you ample storage space. If you’re unsure, you can always bring us a generalized list of your items, and we’ll get the right size unit ready & cleaned out for you!

Yes, Amarillo gets hail and (very rarely) the occasional tornado. Storms can pop up fast. We suggest storing vehicles under cover when possible. This includes storing RVs, boats, trucks, cars, motorcycles, and other vehicles or equipment that may get damaged indoors during tornado season (which is typically from April to June in Amarillo, TX).

Fully-enclosed vehicle storage units and metal canopy spaces add protection from hail and heavy rainfall, while climate-controlled units offer maximum protection for smaller items and important documents.

Absolutely. Amarillo is home to a variety of lakes & parks, making it an ideal city for camping and outdoor fun. If your HOA or driveway can’t fit your rig, we do not suggest leaving it in the street in front of your home. This can lead to the city tagging your vehicle to be towed. However, we do suggest covered or enclosed vehicle storage to prevent the city from tagging your vehicle with a parking violation.

For summer breaks or studying abroad, we suggest a 5×5 or 5×10 storage unit for boxes, a mini-fridge, and dorm furniture. Split with friends to save. Auto-pay plus ID verification keeps your stuff safe until fall!

If you’re simply looking to expand your living space, we recommend any of our 10×10 storage units and splitting access rights with a trusted roommate. This will free up both of your living areas, while refreshing your dorm with tons of extra space!
